As digital marketers it’s a real privilege whenever an opportunity comes along to use our skills and technology to help drive social change.
So when RSPCA Australia asked us to help them campaign against the use of cage eggs in Australia, we couldn’t have been more delighted.
Launched earlier this month, the Hens Deserve Better campaign asks consumers to take action in the fight to eradicate the use of cage eggs by Australian food manufacturers.
To put the issue into perspective, of approximately 16.9 million laying hens in Australia, 11.3 million are confined to cages the size of an A4 piece of paper. Pretty shocking numbers if you ask us.
The campaign we’ve built gives members of the public the opportunity to submit personalised messages to some of Australia’s best known brands such as Arnotts, Birds Eye, San Remo and McCain, urging them to stop using cage eggs in their products.
RSPCA representative and good friend of Sign-Up.to Elise Meakin said Australians were unknowingly contributing to animal cruelty every day by buying products containing cage eggs.
“The RSPCA is urging consumers to make a flap and help Set a Sister Free by telling their favourite brands to make the switch to cage-free eggs and help more than 11 million hens stuck in cages spread their wings,” said Elise.
“The platform built for us by Sign-Up.to has allowed us to easily connect thousands of Australians with their favourite brands so they can urge them to improve their products by switching to cage-free eggs.
“We know consumer power creates change which is why this platform is such an imperative part of the campaign.”
Our Managing Director Brenden Rawson said the campaign gives a voice to all Australians who believe hens deserve better.
“Big business has always used the power of email to speak to their customers. Now it’s time for customers to use that power to speak back,” said Brenden.
