The Role

The Copywriter develops high-performing, on-brand copy for email, SMS, and lifecycle marketing campaigns. This role shapes each client’s voice and messaging strategy, ensuring communications are engaging, conversion-oriented, and aligned with retention goals. Copywriters collaborate closely with CSMs, Strategists, Designers, and Digital Producers to translate briefs, insights, and brand tone into compelling content that supports performance and enhances the customer journey.

Responsibilities

Content Creation & Messaging Development

  • Write clear, engaging copy for email campaigns, flows, and SMS messages.
  • Develop headlines, hooks, CTAs, and body copy aligned with audience segments and lifecycle stages.
  • Adapt tone and messaging based on brand guidelines and client preferences.
  • Create copy that complements the visual design and reinforces strategic intent.
  • Conduct product, competitor, and industry research to inform messaging and positioning.
  • Maintain and refine brand voice documentation and copy guidelines.

Quality Assurance, Editing & Optimization

  • Review all copy for clarity, accuracy, tone consistency, grammar, and compliance.
  • Perform context checks within Figma or Klaviyo to ensure copy aligns with layout and hierarchy.
  • Collaborate with Designers and Producers to adjust copy for readability and visual balance.
  • Recommend subject line, preview text, and messaging variations to support testing.
  • Interpret performance insights and iterate on messaging to improve engagement and conversions.

Collaboration, Communication & Workflow Management

  • Work closely with CSMs/CRM Specialists to understand campaign goals, briefs, timelines, and client feedback.
  • Communicate proactively about blockers, missing information, or brief clarifications.
  • Participate in creative reviews and internal syncs as needed.
  • Support production by providing clear formatting notes, structure outlines, and messaging context.
  • Contribute ideas for content frameworks, testing opportunities, and lifecycle improvements.

Systems, AI & Process Thinking

  • Use AI chatbots, GPTs, and agents daily to support ideation, outlining, and iteration while maintaining high editorial standards.
  • Leverage AI to assist with briefing review, feedback consolidation, copy structuring, and variant generation.
  • Get hands-on with tools and platforms to support faster revisions and clearer collaboration with design and production.
  • Maintain Asana as the single source of truth for copy-related tasks and feedback.
  • Follow established SOPs while helping refine copy workflows as Andzen scales.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in an e-commerce or digital marketing agency.
  • Proven experience writing copy for email, SMS, CRM, or retention marketing.
  • Strong understanding of customer psychology, storytelling, and conversion copywriting.
  • Excellent grammar, editing, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Klaviyo and lifecycle marketing fundamentals.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and consistently deliver high-quality work.
  • Collaborative mindset with openness to feedback and iteration.
  • Ability to write across diverse tones, personas, and brand identities.
